Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on Arbroath.
Our first image shows mechanics Derek Midler and Murray Cronshaw of Keptie Motors with a black 1916 Ford Model T. The photo was taken on March 27 1990.
The second photo dates from April 13 1977 and shows ladies picking daffodils at Mains of Ravensby Farm. The back row shows Elizabeth Arthur and Barbara Lyall while the front row shows Linda Simpson and Brenda Simpson.
The third photo shows people having a jolly good time at the town’s outdoor bathing pools in the summer of 1939.
In the fourth photo, from September 5 1996, Arbroath FC fans celebrate their team’s promotion back to the Second Division.
The fifth photo dates from July 14 1988 and shows DJ Adrian John at a roadshow in the town. Despite the rain, everyone seems to be having a fun time.
Fisherman repair lobster pots at the town’s harbour in the sixth photo which dates from 1962.
The final image shows a street scene from Arbroath in June 1981. What might the policeman be saying to the pedestrian?
