Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on the Barnhill area of Dundee.
Our first image shows a group of jolly youngsters at a mini-fete which raised £120 for charity. It was taken on August 14 1981.
Bleak or bonnie? You decide! The second picture shows Barnhill corporation housing on May 3 1967.
In the third picture, from June 12 1995, Barnhill Football Club are presented with a shield by Bruce Mackie to mark his 30 years as a councillor. The picture shows Councillor Mackie presenting the trophy for the first time to Martin Pattie who won the coveted title of “Most Improved Player of the Year”.
The fourth image shows cars passing through flooding under Barnhill Bridge in September 1967.
The fifth photo shows the inauguration ceremony of Woodlands Dance Orchestra at the Woodlands Hotel in Barnhill on July 21 July 1993.
Isn’t she a beauty? The sixth image, from September 5 1969, shows the gorgeous Barnhill bus.
The seventh image shows a general view of the famous Broughty Ferry raft race which started at Barnhill. It was taken on June 24 1979.
The eighth picture, from August 28 1994, shows firemen extinguishing a blaze at Barnhill Post Office.
Our ninth image shows a young boy doing his bit for the environment by recycling at the bottle bank outside Barnhill shopping centre. It was taken on July 25 1981.
We couldn’t resist including another image of Barnhill’s corporation-built houses from May 1967.

Our final image, from July 17 1985, shows a cheque for £700 being presented to Elizabeth Soutar, chair of the Tayside Whole Body Scanner Appeal, at the William Low supermarket.
