Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on the Kirkton area of Dundee.
Our first image shows some of the competitors taking part in the British Draughts Championship at the Kirkton Community Centre in July 1974.
Our second image shows the cast of Living Memory who entertained senior citizens at Kirkton Community Centre in March 1989. They were a band of young actors from Newcastle. Pictured from left, Paul Sneddon, Kay Hepplewhite, and Jane Holman.
The Kirkton High School team is pictured after taking part in the Police 5 a side semi finals which were held at Balgowan School grounds in August 1976.
A Dundee Corporation Transport double-decker bus emblazoned with “Golden Shred – The World’s Best Marmalade” advertising. The bus is marked to be going to Kirkton back in July 1952.
