Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on the Mill O’ Mains area of Dundee.
Our first image shows pupils from Mill O’ Mains Primary School listening to the teacher during a lesson back in 1972.
Our second image shows Lord Provost Harry Vaughan pictured with Barry Britton who took part in a game of football which coincided with the opening of the new Mill O’ Mains Park in April 1980.
A Dundee District Sports Council football initiative in February 1989 was aimed at developing a sensible attitude to health through football. Six teams of football mad Dundee girls took part including these youngsters from Mill O’ Mains. Our fourth image features two sets of twins who were starting school at Mill O’ Mains Primary in 1980. They are Stephen and Michael Gall and Alison and Craig Dick.
Our fifth image shows a kind lollipop man helping some children across the road after major flooding in Mill O’ Mains back in March 1981.
Our sixth image shows Mill O’ Mains sheltered housing residents celebrating the 10th anniversary of the housing area back in June 1994.
