People in Tayside and Fife have played a massive part in fundraising for Children in Need since the 1980s.
Schools, nurseries, businesses and sports clubs from Courier country have all got in on the act to raise thousands of pounds for the annual telethon.
The fundraiser has been improving the lives of disadvantaged young people for decades, including supporting good causes right here in Tayside and Fife.
The 32nd Children in Need will be shown on the BBC this evening so we searched through the DC Thomson archives to find past fundraising efforts.
Do you remember taking part in any of them?
You might even spot yourself or someone you know in our gallery.
Singing for Pudsey
Welcome to 1990 where we find pupils from Dundee’s Kirkton High in fine voice.
Fiona Anderson, the principal teacher of music, played the piano alongside her cast of young carol singers, whose endeavours raised £300 for the charity.
The cash was music to Pudsey’s ears.
Craigie High Soup Kitchen
A tasty start to our gallery finds these pupils from Craigie High School in Dundee running a soup kitchen to raise money for Children in Need.
The fundraiser in 1994 provided warm meals for the local community as well as raising money for the annual charity fundraising event.
By their happy faces, we can only assume it went well!
Copper trail
Give Pudsey your pennies was the message at Birkhill Primary School in 1994.
Pupils from the school, on the outskirts of Dundee, were asked by staff to bring in their spare pennies to make a copper trail in the school playground.
The money was then donated to the yellow cheeky chap with a polka-dotted eye bandage and it looks like they had a lot of fun building it!
CAFE project
Lights, camera, action!
Arbroath was well-represented in 2001’s fundraising programme where the good work being done at the CAFE Project was showcased on our television screens.
The CAFE Project provides an invaluable service for young people in the area and gives them a place where they can socialise and engage in a wide range of activities.
The Brothock Bridge institution was being supported by Children in Need and reminded everyone how the BBC’s charity makes a difference locally.
Cakes in the Café
Pupils at Fair Isle Primary School in Kirkcaldy turned their classroom into a Pudsey Café to raise money for Children in Need in 2001.
The kids had plenty of fun getting their faces painted and took part in a raffle.
The highlight, though, was their Pudsey cake, which proved popular!
Little wonder, given how tasty it looked!
Yellow leaves and bears
Grange Playgroup in Monifieth were searching for pennies in 2008.
The children were outside with collection buckets but seemed to be keeping themselves amused as they waited for passers-by by playing in the leaves.
The buckets were quickly filled up, thanks to the generosity of parents and locals.
Pudsey in Kirkcaldy
Folk throughout Tayside and Fife were working hard to raise funds for Children in Need in 2009 including Courtney Houston and Megan McIvor from Kirkcaldy.
They were pictured in The Courier with a very special guest as organisers were hoping to emulate the success of the 2008 appeal, which raised £38m in total.
We love Courtney and Megan’s bandanas!
Pudsey in Wonderland
The kids and staff at Wonderland Nursery School in Perth hosted a pyjama party with a cake and candy stall in 2009 as part of their fundraising efforts.
Their event was well attended with plenty of goodies on show.
We especially like the Pudsey-themed cupcakes!
How long did they last, though?
Decorating biscuits at Auchtermuchty
These kids from Auchtermuchty Primary School in Fife are pictured in our next image baking lots of goodies for their Children In Need fun day in 2010.
Decorating biscuits were P3 pupils Lauren Kerr and Isla Brown, who were being given assistance by P6 pupils Marije de Vries and Megan Morrison.
We love the face paint but who got to lick the bowl afterwards?
Badge sale
Children at Freuchie Primary School raised £280 towards Children In Need in 2010.
The Fife school hosted a cake and badge sale to raise the fantastic amount for the charity and some of the pupils are pictured covering Pudsey in coins.
Can you spot anyone you know in the 2010 picture?
Oranges and Lemons
The Oranges and Lemons Nursery in Dundee’s Constitution Road celebrated Children in Need in 2010 by encouraging fancy dress and messy hair.
It wasn’t just the kids – staff and helpers also joined in the fun!
Did you take part in this fun event?
Girls Brigade and Bears
Here are the girls from the 20th Dundee Girls Brigade at Menzieshill Church.
They enjoyed a teddy bears picnic fun night in 2011 to raise much-needed cash with plenty of hugs being given to their cuddly friends throughout the evening.
Do you recognise any of these children or teddies?
Joe Wicks at Camperdown
Fast-forward to 2022 and that’s where we find Joe Wicks at Camperdown Park in Dundee last weekend to promote his Walk With Joe campaign.
The campaign has been raising money by hosting park runs all over the country.
Joe was alongside the young carers from Dundee Carers Centre and Harris Academy.
So what will you be doing today to raise money for Children in Need?
Whatever it is, we wish you the very best of luck, and – if you are still undecided – hopefully our gallery of images might provide some inspiration.
