A “gaping hole” over how to create jobs and boost the economy has been left in the Holyrood election campaign, Ruth Davidson has claimed.
The Scottish Conservative leader will visit Ductform in Glenrothes to listen to the local employer about ways to boost employment in Scotland.
She will highlight her party’s plans to freeze business rates, support college places and boost skills as she slams her opponents.
Ms Davidson said: “There has been a massive, gaping hole in this election campaign, unfilled by every other party. And that’s the absence of a grown-up discussion about how we create jobs and encourage economic growth in Scotland.
“SNP, Labour, Lib Dem and Greens are all fighting about how much money they can reach in and take out of the paypackets of working Scots. Not one of these parties is talking about how we can attract the kind of investment we need to ensure we increase jobs and employment across the country.”
An SNP spokeswoman said: “Scotland’s economy and jobs are always at the top of the SNP’s priorities – but Ruth Davidson’s claims are completely undermined by the Tories’ ongoing obsession with austerity, which takes billions of pounds out of the economy, threatening jobs, investment and innovation.”
