Ukip has been mocked as the “UK irrelevance party” after its failure in the Scottish Parliament elections.
SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson said most people in Scotland are very pleased with the lack of success for the “Europhobic” party.
He also insisted there is a majority in Holyrood for Scottish independence as a member of the European Union.
Mr Robertson made his remarks after Scottish Secretary David Mundell urged the SNP to rule out a second independence referendum.
Ukip, short for the UK Independence Party, won its first seats in the Welsh Assembly and secured two London Assembly seats for the first time since 2004 at the polls on May 5.
But the party, which has one European Parliament MP in Scotland, remains without a single Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP).
Speaking during Scotland questions, Mr Robertson told the Commons: “We on these benches are delighted that, in the run-up to the European Union referendum, the Scottish electorate has returned a pro-European SNP government – returned with the highest vote of any current party in any national election anywhere in Western Europe.
“Most people in Scotland are also very pleased that, when given the opportunity, the Scottish electorate didn’t return a single MSP from the Europhobic UK irrelevance party, and that there is a majority in the Scottish Parliament for Scottish independence as a member of the European Union.”
