Tory leadership hopeful Liz Truss spent the night in Dundee following a raucous party debate in Perth.
Ms Truss, who is vying to take control of the party and become the next prime minister, is understood to have stayed at Hotel Indigo on Blackscroft.
The £24 million hotel, which opened in 2018, rose from the ashes of the old Baxter’s Brothers jute mill.
The Conservative candidate was driven through to the city following the Perth event, where according to a source she enjoyed a drink in the Daisy Tasker bar — named after former mill worker and social secretary of the same name.
It followed chaotic scenes in Perth, where BBC journalist James Cook was branded a “traitor” in a verbal assault which sickened senior politicians including Nicola Sturgeon.
She checked out of the luxury accommodation early Wednesday morning but was spotted on a walk-about in the nearby area.
Flanked by at least two Range Rover SUVs with protection officers, Ms Truss is said to have taken in the Blackscroft and Stobswell districts before heading to her next engagement.
Eggs thrown
On Tuesday night protesters attempted to push past police and threw eggs at Tory guests arriving in Perth to hear Ms Truss and her rival Rishi Sunak speak.
During the debate, Ms Truss said she would not allow another independence referendum as prime minister, which got a huge cheer from the audience.
She repeatedly called herself a “child of the union” and referenced her childhood in Paisley, saying she had a strong Scottish accent as a youngster.
Mr Sunak said it is “barmy” to focus on an “unnecessary and divisive” referendum.
He added: “I don’t want to just ignore Nicola Sturgeon, I want to take her on and beat her.”
A spokeswoman confirmed she left Dundee to travel to Northern Ireland for the next leadership hustings.
