At the daily briefing on Sunday Professor Jason Leitch said “the safest place for you and your family is at home”.
He reiterated the #stayathome message, adding the best protection against the virus is “your own front door”.
“It feels strange for all of us but stay at home as much as you possibly can,” he said.
Health secretary Jeane Freeman led Sunday’s media briefing.
She started by saying: “Today is an Easter Sunday like no other we have experienced.
“I want to thank the country for staying at home. I know this isn’t easy but your actions, your sacrifices, are making a difference.
“So I’m asking you to please stick with it. It is vital that we slow the spread of this virus and save lives.”
