More than 200 people are in hospital across Fife and Tayside with suspected or confirmed Covid-19.

The latest figures from the Scottish Government show there are 379 confirmed cases in Fife, 122 in hospital and nine people in intensive care.

In Tayside, the total number of confirmed cases is now 803 and there are 113 people in hospital. Of those, there are eight in intensive care.

A total of 31,114 people in Scotland have now been tested for the virus, with 25,202 testing negative.

There have been 5,912 positive results and the country’s death toll has risen to 566.

At the daily briefing on Sunday Professor Jason Leitch said “the safest place for you and your family is at home”.

He reiterated the #stayathome message, adding the best protection against the virus is “your own front door”.

“It feels strange for all of us but stay at home as much as you possibly can,” he said.

Health secretary Jeane Freeman led Sunday’s media briefing.

She started by saying: “Today is an Easter Sunday like no other we have experienced.

“I want to thank the country for staying at home. I know this isn’t easy but your actions, your sacrifices, are making a difference.

“So I’m asking you to please stick with it. It is vital that we slow the spread of this virus and save lives.”
