A further 83 new confirmed coronvirus cases have been recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours.

The latest update from the Scottish Government shows the country’s total number of positive cases since the pandemic began is now 19,811.

A total of 470,502 people in Scotland have been tested since March and of these, 450,691 were confirmed negative.

The new figures show 245 people were in hospital with confirmed Covid-19 and two people are being treated in intensive care.

There have been no deaths related to the virus recorded in the past 24 hours.

A regional breakdown of the figures show there have been 37 new cases across Tayside and five in Fife.

NHS Tayside confirmed on Saturday the number of cases connected to the coronavirus cluster at Coupar Angus has risen to 90.

79 factory workers at the 2 Sisters food processing plant have tested positive for the virus and the remaining 11 cases are from community contacts.

Health board bosses say detailed contact tracing is taking place and hundreds of workers have had tests over the last few days.
