An SNP MP has said he is “deeply disappointed” at a council decision to block his visit to a Fife school.
Peter Grant’s trip to Levenmouth Academy was cancelled at the eleventh hour by Fife Council bosses on Thursday over fears it could influence pupils ahead of next month’s by-election.
Mr Grant, who represents Glenrothes, said the reason given for cancelling the visit was “a bit tenuous”.

The council said while he was free to visit the school as planned, he could not hold a question and answer session with pupils, which was the main reason for the event.
The visit has been rescheduled for next year.
A spokeswoman for Labour-run Fife Council said they were following pre-election restrictions ahead of the Levenmouth by-election on December 15.
She added: “In particular, (Mr Grant) wanted to have a Q&A session with pupils eligible to vote, which we would not facilitate in these circumstances.”
