A Fife MP has latched onto the reaction to Richard Leonard’s England loyalties to have a dig at his footballing rivals in Dundee.
In a playful tweet, the SNP’s Stephen Gethins, a Dundee United fan, said the team you support is irrelevant in determining someone’s fitness to improve people’s lives.
Whether or not you back the Custom Union matters to jobs, the economy and people's daily lives. The football team you support does not. I know some fine @dundeefconline fans who back the EU even though @dundeeunitedfc fans have more experience of Europe.

New Scottish Labour leader Mr Leonard, a Yorkshireman who is pitching to be the next First Minister, said he would root for England in any rugby or football match against Scotland.
Mr Gethins, the North East Fife MP who is also the SNP’s international affairs and Europe spokesman, said: “Whether or not you back the Custom Union matters to jobs, the economy and people’s daily lives.
