MPs will unite against Royal Bank of Scotland plans to close dozens of branches north of the border.
Politicians from all parties are expected to ramp up the pressure on RBS executives at a Commons debate on Wednesday.
Eight branches in Courier Country are set to close this year, with a further two Bank of Scotland sites to go.
SNP MP Brendan O’Hara said the bailed-out bank, which needed to be propped up by £45bn of public money in 2008, “must not repay our communities by withdrawing from them”.
He called on UK ministers to intervene, but the Conservative Government has said it will not get involved in commercial decisions.
RBS says there are “more ways than ever” to bank with them, including through mobile vans, post offices and online.
