Less than a quarter of MPs in Courier Country supported Theresa May’s deal.
The area’s six SNP representatives and Labour’s Lesley Laird voted against the agreement that Mrs May struck with the EU in November.
Tayside’s two Conservative MPs Kirstene Hair and Luke Graham supported the Prime Minister’s proposal.
Mr Graham, for Ochil and South Perthshire, said he does not “like” the Irish backstop and the lack of legal clout on the future trading relationship, but conceded that protections were in place.
He told constituents before Tuesday’s vote: “I believe the deal provides us a solid way forward – honouring the referendum result to remove us from the EU political project, while keeping as close as possible economic relationship to protect our prosperity.”
Pete Wishart, the SNP MP for Perth and North Perthshire MP, described the defeat as “devastating”.
Dundee West representative Chris Law said an independence referendum must be approved if there is to be a repeat of the 2016 result, in which Scotland voted to Remain.
He tweeted: “If there is to be a #PeoplesVote and Scotland votes to #Remain in the #EU whilst the rest of UK votes to #Leave then our mandate for #indyref2 must be honoured by the UK Govt.”
