Boris Johnson will host a Brexit bash in Downing Street this evening for cabinet ministers, staff and activists.
Guests will toast the UK’s departure from the EU at 11pm with traditional food washed down with English sparkling wine.
Canapés will include a savoury shortbread topped with Shropshire blue cheese, filet of lamb, a ploughman’s of cheddar and pickle, roast chicken skewers and roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
Outside Number 10, much of Whitehall will be illuminated with a red and blue light show while just down the road in Parliament Square Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage will be holding his own party.
The Leave Means Leave event has promised to feature numerous speakers – but live music, alcohol and fireworks have been banned.
It’s not all celebrations, however. There have been several protest marches across the country and at a number of events tonight those on the other side of the EU debate will gather to bid a sombre farewell.
We asked MPs and political leaders in Scotland how they would be marking the occasion tonight.
Nicola Sturgeon
The first minister has been one of the fiercest anti-Brexit campaigners over the last four years and earlier today she expressed her “real and profound sadness” at the prospect of the UK leaving at 11pm.
Asked how she would be spending tonight, Ms Sturgeon said she “doesn’t have any specific plans for 11pm”.
Jackson Carlaw
The acting Tory leader in Holyrood broke with Ruth Davidson’s position on Brexit when he took the helm of the party last year. He announced the Scottish Tories stood “foursquare” behind Boris Johnson’s exit plan.
Asked how he would be spending this evening, a source close to Mr Carlaw said: “Jackson is in the middle of a leadership campaign of his own. He will be tucked up in bed!”
Ian Blackford
The SNP Westminster leader has been voicing opposition to the Brexit plans of Theresa May and Mr Johnson since he took charge in 2017.
He will be spending tonight at a gathering in Portree on Skye to raise a glass to the EU.
David Doogan
Angus MP David Doogan will be marking tonight at vigil with SNP colleagues.
“I’ll be at a scheduled Burns evening before heading to a vigil in Kirriemuir to join with fellow remainers and SNP colleagues to mark the occasion.
“We’ve now got to make sure there’s as little time as possible before we are back in.”
Andrew Bowie
The West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MP was at the Brexit coalface for much of last year, serving as Mrs May’s main parliamentary aide.
Mr Bowie, who is now a vice-chairman of the Tory party, will be taking some much needed R&R and will spending the evening at a cinema with Mrs Bowie. “Not sure what we’re seeing — her choice”, he adds.
Douglas Ross
The Moray MP, who was recently promoted to the Scotland Office, is spending Brexit night in his constituency.
“I’ll be at a public meeting organised by the Elgin Sports Community Trust about their plans to build a 3G pitch for the community then, with a 10-month old at home, I’ll probably have an early night to try to get some sleep while he’s down”, he said.

Stephen Flynn
The newly elected Aberdeen South MP has had his hands full since winning at the December poll, as well as juggling parliamentary procedure and navigating the labyrinthine House of Commons Mr Flynn has also been getting used to life as a dad.
Asked how he’ll be spending tonight, he said: “Changing nappies!”
Alistair Carmichael
The veteran Orkney and Shetland MP, who worked tirelessly with Liberal Democrat colleagues to alter the UK’s Brexit path, will be spending tonight with family.
“Like many families I suspect, we will reflect privately on the changes that are going to come”.
Jamie Stone
The Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP, who fought with his Lib Dem colleagues against Brexit, will be spending the evening with friends.
He said: “I’ll be toasting the lassies in Inverness as whatever the future holds Scotland’s whisky will always be the finest.”
Drew Hendry
Mr Stone’s constituency neighbour, Inverness MP Drew Hendry, will also be spending tonight with friends.
“I’ll raise a glass in thanks for all of the benefits that the EU has brought to the Highlands and Islands since we joined, the opportunities for work, study, travel and business, the friends, colleagues and neighbours we’ve become and the investment — we’ve had far more from the EU than we paid in”, he said.
Adding: “Then I’ll get to work on Scotland’s future choice.”
David Duguid
The Banff and Buchan MP has been a fierce campaigner for fishermen in the north-east and has won two elections on the back of promises to take the UK out of the much hated Common Fisheries Policy.
Mr Duguid said: “I’ll be delighted at 11pm, It’s a moment which many felt would never happen. I don’t feel the need to mark the occasion with anything over-celebratory. I’ll be at home with my family and will be looking forward to an optimistic future.”
