First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is on the brink of making a fresh announcement about a second Scottish independence referendum. The leader of the SNP had originally called for a fresh vote to be held in autumn 2018 or spring 2019. However following the 2017 General Election Ms Sturgeon conceded IndyRef2 was “a factor” in the party losing 21 seats. The Tories, Labour and Lib Dems have all called for the second referendum to be taken off the table. So today we ask, did the general election result affect the case for Scottish independence?
