The Prime Minister confused the Tay Cities Deal with a non-existent Aberdeenshire equivalent in the House of Commons.
Theresa May brought up a “Deeside deal” in response to a question from Dundee West MP Chris Law during Prime Minister’s Questions in Westminster.
The SNP politician was calling on Mrs May to commit to a new Dundee to Heathrow air link within three years, claiming the V&A will bring a huge amount of visitors and investment to the region.
The Tory leader responded by saying the third runway at the West London hub was expected to improve connectivity throughout the UK.
However, Mrs May also referred to the Tay Cities Deal, the long-awaited funding package worth up to £1.8 billion to Tayside and North East Fife, as the “Deeside” deal.
Deeside is an area of Aberdeenshire, famed for its scenery and favoured by holidaying members of the Royal Family, which will be covered by the Aberdeen City Region Deal.
Mrs May said Mr Law was right to bring to raise both the “Deeside” deal and the opening of the V&A in Dundee.
Prime Minister moves Dundee away from Tayside to Deeside in response to @ChrisLawSNP…….it is like Scotland is another country 😉 #pmqs #pmq

“These are important ways in which the UK Government is working to ensure support for Scotland,” she said.
“Another one is the fact that this is a government that has taken the decision to enable the third runway to go ahead at Heathrow and we do expect when that happens that we will see better connectivity within the UK.”
? WATCH: With the V&A opening this month and worldwide interest in the city growing, it is vital that the UK Government confirms its commitment to an air link between Heathrow and Dundee Airport. It was disappointing that the Prime Minister did not give that commitment today. pic.twitter.com/aVSdCEFuVd
