In a new feature, I’m looking back on the information which appeared in newspapers when local footballers stepped up to the senior grade.
From August 1964 . . .
Forfar Athletic last night signed on a provisional form Alistair Carrie, right-back of Arbroath Service Club. He played a successful trial for the Loons against Stenhousemuir on Saturday, and has just turned junior with Arbroath Vics.
Carrie is 20 and has had a trial with Dundee United. He is likely to turn out tonight for Forfar at Hampden.
*Arbroath Service Club . . . this is the first I have heard of this team.
Do you have any knowledge, history or photos of this club, which I am presuming is amateur or juvenile.
If so, send in to share with BwB readers.
