In early May, BwB carried a tale in which Dundee FC played two games in one day.
It was away back in 1904, and Dundee hosted Hibs at Dens Park in a league game, then popped along to Clepington Park to tackle Dundee Wanderers in a Scottish Cup tie.
There were a number of responses on social media.
Jim McDonald was first to register, and he said: “I think my grandad was there.”
He then continued: “As a manager, I had a player who ran the marathon, then came to Caird Park straight after and played in a Scottish Cup tie.”
Chris Livingstone’s sarcastic view on it was: “Can you imagine the outrage if a team had to do that in today’s game?
“How can you expect these lads to play two games in one day?”
Because they get paid a load of money and are meant to be fit!
Tony Quinn commented: “This was when the game had players and not popstars.”
Similarly, the story about Douglas Lads Club and ‘crabbie football’ also provoked a response on social media from Patrick McCarron.
One of the players mentioned was Brian Alderson, who went senior with Coventry City.
There was also a photo of East Craigie JFC from the late 1970s on the same day.
Patrick said: “I watched Brian Alderson playing for Lochee Harp.
“He was some player.
“A good few others in that East Craigie photo also played for Harp, such Phinn, Grieve, Strachan and Markie.
“I watched them all as a bairn.”
