A key funder at Lochee United is cutting financial ties with the club after the shock departure of manager Kevin Harper.
Harper left his role at the club just FIVE DAYS after succeeding long-term boss George Shields.
He oversaw a training session last Wednesday but it has since emerged his appointment wasn’t ratified by the club’s committee.
With concerns over the recruitment process and potential financial implications, Lochee pulled the plug on the deal to appoint the former Hibernian and Scotland under-21 star.
Courier Sport understands former boss Steve Leahy is set to take charge of the Dundee side, with Harper now seeking legal advice over his dismissal.
The former Hibs star’s early exit has now prompted major investor Graeme Carling to remove his support from the Midlands League side.
‘Disbelief’ at Kevin Harper departure
Carling, a majority shareholder and CEO of investment company United Capital, is a long-time supporter of Lochee.
It is clear that the decision to remove Mr Harper and appoint Mr Leahy has been a coordinated effort by long term members at the club.
As a consequence of these actions I am removing all support and sponsorship with immediate effect.— Graeme Carling (@GraemeCarling) November 21, 2022
He posted on Twitter: “I am in genuine disbelief at the events that have unfolded over the last few days at Lochee United which culminated in the termination of newly-appointed manager Kevin Harper.
