Team Scotland have racked up five medals on the first day of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The country currently sits fifth in the overall medal table with England first, Australia second, Malaysia third and Canada fourth.
Scotland’s first gold of the Gold Coast games came from Aberdonian para-cyclist Neil Fachie and his pilot Matt Rotherham.

Aberdeenshire swimmer Hannah Miley grabbed a silver in the women’s 400m medley final. She is now a three-time Commonwealth medal winner, having won the event at both the Dehli and Glasgow events.

Fellow swimmer Ross Murdoch, from Balloch, also secured silver for his efforts in the men’s 200m breaststroke.

Glaswegian Marc Austin was the first Scot to get a medal after claiming bronze in the triathlon – making history as the first runner from the country ever to do so in the history of the event at the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland’s Hamish Carter, Frank Baines, Dan Purvis and Kevin Cham also took bronze in the men’s gymnastics team final.
