Montrose travel to Airdrie looking to pick up a third consecutive win, with manager Stewart Petrie still to decide if the international break was a blessing or a curse.
Petrie said: “I will know at 10 to five on Saturday night if it was a good time to have a break or not.
“It was great to go to Clyde and build on our win over Peterhead and there is a very strong argument for wanting to go again really quickly.
“However, we had to give the players a bit of time off as they have played a lot of games.
“That worked quite well as they came back to training in great shape on Tuesday.
“A few of them had been carrying a few niggles so they have cleared up and we are better for numbers as a result.”
The Diamonds played last weekend but it was a disappointing afternoon as they exited the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup at the hands of Elgin.
Petrie said: “I have gone through the report on that game. Airdrie had a lot of possession and created a few openings before being hit with a bit of a sucker punch later on.
“Their manager Ian Murray has changed his team around a few times to try and get the right mix on the park. I know what that feels like and I am also aware that they beat us at our place earlier this season.
“That defeat was a sore one as Sean Dillon was sent off for conceding a penalty just before half-time.
“Airdrie missed it but we had to play in the second half with only 10 men and Callum Smith, who has been terrific for them this season, grabbed the winner with a deflected effort.
“Sean’s red card was overturned but that was a small consolation. Hopefully, we can get something back from that game in this one.”
Martin Rennie misses out after his late red-card at Clyde with the injured Ross Campbell and Lewis Milne remaining on the sidelines.
