Brechin City were due to be playing Annan Athletic at Galabank for a second week running today but their scheduled league fixture has been replaced by a Scottish Cup replay between the teams at Glebe Park.
Mark Wilson’s side came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 and earn another crack at booking a place against Edinburgh City in round three and while the manager likes their battling qualities he wants his men to ensure that they start off correctly in this meeting.
The Glebe boss explained: “How we start this game will be key.
“I have quite rightly praised the players for the resilience they have been showing in recent games as they never know when they are beaten.
“We were down by two by half-time last weekend but I was confident that we would get back into it.
“The second half was a lot better and getting one goal in the first 10 minutes meant that we would simply keep going to get level.
“It is great to have that strength but what I would prefer is that the players start positively and then show the resilience required to keep hold of a lead.
“Hopefully, that is what will happen this time out.”
Wilson added: “We know what the prize is for winning now. I feel that I might have cursed things last weekend when I said I had hoped any Scottish Cup matches would be against teams that we do not play in the league.
“That is what lies in wait but even before we can think about facing Edinburgh City, we have to take care of Annan.
“It will be tough but there is a growing sense of confidence about the club. We have shown that we can compete, and we have shown that we can score goals.
“What we need to show now is that we are confident and goal hungry from the first minute.”
Defender Dougie Hill looks set to miss out again.
