Forfar manager Stuart Malcolm is urging his players to realise just what a great opportunity the trip to Stranraer offers them.
The Loons will move no fewer than eight points clear of League One’s bottom side if they can leave Stair Park with a victory today.
That is a huge incentive to ponder during the long journey south.
Malcolm said: “This is the time for us to stand up and be counted.
“We should be looking forward to this game.
“It gives us a huge opportunity to move further away from Stranraer, although they will be thinking that they can close the gap.
“We will have to be vigilant and work hard but I think we should be confident going down there.”
Forfar had been keeping it tight at the back until they lost four goals to Dumbarton in a 4-3 defeat at Station Park last Saturday.
Malcolm is looking for improvement, saying: “I want to keep the good attacking play – we scored three goals, after all – but also stop conceding like we did.
“Don’t get me wrong, some good goals were scored against us but we must get back to doing the things that we had been doing.”
The Loons will be without captain Michael Travis, who has failed to recover from the leg knock he suffered against the Sons.
Today’s clash will also come too early for Jordan Kirkpatrick.
