Montrose will get an early morning alarm call today to tell them if their match at Stranraer is going ahead.
The Gable Endies are scheduled to make one of Scottish football’s longest journeys for their League One fixture, with their team bus scheduled to leave Links Park at 8.30 am.
However, the SPFL have arranged for an inspection of the Stair Park pitch to take place 15 minutes before Montrose are due to set off.
The state of the surface has placed a huge question mark over the game, with manager Stewart Petrie just hoping they get confirmation one way or the other before the key turns in the ignition.
He said: “Our bus is due to leave at half eight so it’s pretty tight for timing.
“I imagine, though, that we will be told before we are due to set off.
“I think the decision to inspect the pitch has been made both because of the state of the pitch as it is and the weather forecast for later.
“That makes sense and we will just have to see what happens.
“If the game does go ahead then we will see both Aidan Quinn and Russell McLean come back into the squad.”
