East Fife host Airdrie with manager Darren Young looking for his side to upset the form book and storm back into the top four.
The Bayview side slipped down to fifth after losing 1-0 to Montrose last weekend but Young is convinced that if his players can show a ruthless nature they will see off the in-form Diamonds.
Young said: “Airdrie have pushed themselves into second place as they have been able to win games.
“They have won seven out of the last 10 and that run has been achieved by winning in different ways.
“They have had successes based on attack after attack but they have also picked up wins by simply grinding them out.
“That is what happened against Forfar last weekend where, by all accounts, they did not play well but managed to get a head of steam up in the second half and grabbed a 1-0 win.
“The way they have been playing makes them the favourites for this one but we usually enjoy being the underdogs. Hopefully that will be the case again.”
The defeat to Montrose still rankles with Young, who added: “We had three major chances to score and never took one.
“We had an open goal, a one-on-one situation and a free header. In those situations, you would expect to get at least a couple of goals and we never scored one.”
Ross Dunlop continues to be absent with a wrist problem and Kyle Bell remains out with a knee injury but Kevin Smith has been added.
Young said: “Kevin has been looking good in training and is pain-free for the first time in a long time. He has not had any game time so I cannot just throw him in but he could play a part in this game.”
