Cowdenbeath have written to the SFA to demand answers regarding Chris Hamilton’s suspension.
The Blue Brazil defender’s appeal for his sending off at home to Stirling Albion earlier this month, for serious foul play, was rejected by the same judicial panel that ruled on James Keatings’ controversial dismissal against Rangers Colts.
Central Park chairman Donald Findlay told the Daily Mail: “This matter was brought to my attention at the weekend and, given the circumstances, we have written to the SFA asking them to reconsider Chris Hamilton’s case, given that there seems to have been a problem with that particular judicial panel.”
Last week the Hampden hierarchy granted Inverness Caley Thistle star Keatings a fresh red card appeal after confirming the three-man panel “failed to implement its duties”.
The SFA said all available evidence wasn’t considered in the former Dundee United striker’s case.
The governing body’s initial decision to dismiss the appeal – and subsequently rule the player out of next month’s Challenge Cup final against Raith Rovers – led to widespread criticism from fans, footballers and pundits, including England legend Gary Lineker.
A statement read: “One of the panel members has advised that, despite raising no concerns throughout the process, they did not undertake their obligations with respect to the consideration of all the available evidence.
“With that in mind, and only in extremis based on the information provided by the panel member, the determination cannot be considered valid.
“Therefore, the judicial panel secretary has been instructed to convene a new tribunal and a fresh date will be set in due course.”
