Manager Stuart Malcolm feels Forfar should head to Stark’s Park in positive frame of mind despite Dumbarton defeat

Forfar boss Stuart Malcolm insists they will cross the Tay in a positive frame of mind to face promotion-chasing Raith Rovers.

The Loons suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Dumbarton at the C&G Systems Stadium on Tuesday night to leave themselves sitting in second-bottom spot of the League One table.

They have managed only one win in nine matches since Christmas but Malcolm argues that they have done OK in all but two of those fixtures: that loss to the Sons and the 6-0 hammering from Falkirk at the end of January.

The Forfar players will also travel to Kirkcaldy knowing that they have matched Rovers twice already this season, drawing the contests in November and January.

Malcolm said: “In both those games against Raith we were very, very close to picking up all three points.

“That is why I feel we should be upbeat and confident about this game.

“We didn’t play well at Dumbarton but it is only in that game and the one at Falkirk that I feel we haven’t performed.

“In every other match we have competed and not been far away from taking something.

“I accept that on Tuesday we were not at our greatest but we should still believe that we can go to Raith and get a decent recent.”

The Loons have no fresh injury worries.
