Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has paid a glowing tribute to Omar Kader following the experienced winger’s retirement from football.
Kader is hanging up his boots at the age of 34 after playing a key part in the Red Lichties’ rise from League Two to the Championship.
He made 141 appearances for the club during his four-year stay at Gayfield, including 28 last term as Arbroath secured a fifth-placed finish in the second tier.
Kader also worked under veteran boss Campbell at Forfar between 2012 and 2016 and had brief spells with Alloa and Lowland League outfit Spartans.
Campbell said: “I’ve managed Omar now for eight years – I had him for four years at Forfar and now four with Arbroath and he is one of the best professionals I’ve ever worked with in my career.
“To have a player with you for eight seasons tells you all you need to know.
“I wish him and his family all the very best and thank him for the time he has been my player.”
Arbroath chairman Mike Caird added: “Omar has played a huge part with his performances in one of our most exciting periods in the club’s history and leaves with two league winning medals and a season in the Championship.
“Omar and his family will always be welcome to pop in and see us at Gayfield anytime.”
