Former Dunfermline skipper Paul Paton could be offered a route back into the game with Lowland League side East Kilbride just a month after being released by the Pars.
The 33-year-old, capped four times by Northern Ireland, started his career at Queen’s Park and helped the Spiders to promotion in 2007 before heading to Partick Thistle the following summer.
Paton was Jags captain when they won the First Division in 2013 however despite that success, he moved onto Dundee United for a three-year spell that ended with a move to St Johnstone in 2016.
After a short stint at Plymouth in 2018, Paton joined Falkirk before heading to East End Park last summer where he played 31 games.
But he was one of 17 players let go by the Fifers when their contracts expired in May.
East Kilbride’s new boss Stephen Aitken is keen to add experience to his squad and has sounded out Paton, as well as his former Jags and Tannadice team-mate Chris Erskine, about joining.
