Raith Rovers manager John McGlynn is planning for the future but admits he is still desperate to have a proper celebration to mark his team’s League One title triumph.

The Stark’s Park outfit were crowned champions on April 15 on a points-per-game basis following a controversial SPFL ballot involving all 42 teams.

However, their place in the Championship is still not guaranteed, with Hearts and Partick Thistle attempting to reserve their respective relegations through a Scottish FA arbitration panel.

Should the M8 alliance be successful, Dundee United, Rovers and Cove Rangers would be denied promotion.

McGlynn is stepping up his plans for life in the second tier after signing experienced goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald but still wants to recognise the achievement of last season with a face-to-face get-together once lockdown restrictions ease.

He said: “I’m desperate to get back but we’ve not even been able to get everyone together even to just say, ‘well done for winning the league’.

“You can do that on WhatsApp or a Zoom call but it’s not the same as getting everyone together.

“Initially it would be great to see the players all together, even just to have that moment.

“It’s never going to be the same, but just to say ‘well done’.

“We’ve not yet had a medal presentation, there are things we cannot still do and there are things we’re looking forward to doing.”

“We’ve not had the chance to have that and it’s been eating away.

“It’s been a bad time for everyone, we have to take everything into perspective and there are worse things going on in life.

“But with regards to just being able to get everyone together and see how they are, and having that feeling that we achieved something.”
