Stevie Crawford is hopeful the boardroom willingness to reinvest the Kevin Nisbet windfall has left Dunfermline in good shape for next season.

The Pars boss has been busy in the transfer market, snapping up Steven Whittaker, Declan McManus, Dom Thomas, Paul Watson, Iain Wilson and Kevin O’Hara.

Keeper Owain Fon Williams became the latest new recruit when he joined on a two-year deal from Hamilton Accies earlier this week.

And Crawford admits the £250,000 fee agreed by Hibs for the capture of Nisbet earlier this summer has been crucial in him revamping his squad for the return of the Championship in October.

He said: “It comes back to the development of Kevin Nisbet and the money we then received from the transfer fee.

“The chairman is willing to drip feed that back into the club.

“It gives us a solid foundation and gives us the chance to move on and try to develop more players in that manner.

“You never say never, but I think we’ve done the majority of our work, in terms of permanent signings.

“And, again, I’m thankful to the chairman and the board that they’ve backed us on these.”
