Raith Rovers have snapped up freed Luton Town defender Frankie Musonda on a one-year deal – with a little help from Hearts midfielder Olly Lee.
Musonda joined the Hatters aged eight and has spent the last 14 years with the Championship outfit.
However, the centre-half has managed just 14 first-team appearances for the club and has been farmed out for loan spells with non-league Braintree Town, Oxford City, Hemel Hempstead Town and St Albans City.
The youngster becomes Raith’s fourth summer recruit following the captures of keeper Jamie MacDonald, full-back Reghan Tumilty and striker Manny Duku.
Musonda said: “One of my old team-mates at Luton plays for Hearts, Olly Lee, and I spoke to him before I came up here.
“I know it’s going to be a tough league, a physical league, but it’s definitely a challenge I’m excited to be a part of.
“I joined Luton when I was eight years old and I’ve been there all my career up until this point.
“I was part of quite a successful youth team and made my debut for Luton at 18, and I’ve been in and around the first-team since 17 years old.
“I’d like to think I’ll be one of the leaders in the group and on the pitch I’m a bit of a voice, and I want to bring some passion and energy to the team.”
