Gary Naysmith dismisses Dumfries link – but Barry Smith in frame for job

East Fife player-manager Gary Naysmith has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant manager’s job at Queen of the South – but former Dundee manager Barry Smith could be a candidate.
The Dumfries job became available last week when James Fowler was dismissed and Naysmith was installed as one of the favourites just days after leading the Bayview men to the League Two title.
But Naysmith said: “My contract at East Fife runs out soon and I was speaking to the chairman quite a lot last week and things are moving on there.
“Hopefully we will get things tied up soon and to be honest I have not looked to move on to Queen of the South or anywhere else.”
Smith has decided not to renew his contract with Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town and his representatives have made contact with the board at Palmerston.
