Brechin boss Mark Wilson has backed new signing Michael Paton to help nurture the club’s young players.
The experienced frontman has joined City after leaving Queen of the South at the end of last season. He has also featured for Aberdeen, Stockport County (loan), Dunfermline and Dumbarton.
Paton (31) previously spent time on loan at Glebe Park as an 18-year-old from the Dons in 2008 but will now be one of the more senior players at Brechin.
Wilson said: “Michael is a player that we have been chasing for about six weeks.
“It has been a lengthy, drawn-out process but he obviously had options elsewhere – particularly from the Championship.
“We are delighted that he has chosen to join us.
“He took his time in assessing his options but he was able to see what we are a building here – a young, exciting team.
“He certainly believes he can come here and add quality to our squad.
“He is a player of huge experience and he will help our young players along nicely. We are delighted to have him on board.
“He has chosen to take a step down the leagues but he still has the same ambition to be successful at Brechin City.”
