Brechin City chairman Ken Ferguson is hoping that the club will reap the rewards of not being involved in the end-of-season play-offs for a change.
The League One club pulled off a miraculous escape in the last couple of months of this season with a stunning run of form.
But the hole that they got themselves out of had been dug at the start of the campaign when manager Darren Dods was struggling to put a squad together.
Getting a head start this close-season will be no bad thing, according to Ferguson.
He said: “We had a good chat on Saturday night and the feeling is that we’ve got a great opportunity to build and organise for next season.
“We’ve been involved in the play-offs so often that it’s meant we’ve been behind the game a bit.
“This year Darren will have more time to have his chats with players he wants to keep and sign.
