Cowdenbeath skipper Dean Brett is determined that the Blue Brazil make the most of only losing 2-0 to Queen’s Park on Wednesday night and move closer to keeping their place in League One.
The Blue Brazil were comprehensively beaten by the Spiders in the play-off semi-final first leg but the Glasgow side failed to turn their superiority into a bigger lead and Brett is hoping that the tight Central Park pitch will help the Fifers through.
Brett said: “It is not an ideal situation but I have to be honest and say that they were miles better than us throughout the 90 minutes.
“We are quite fortunate that it was only 2-0 as they had loads of chances. However, it is only half-time and it is not over.
“We have beaten bigger teams than Queen’s Park at our place this season by more than two goals, so we are still in it.”
“We will go out and give everything as we have nothing to lose now. The only positive is that we are only two behind.”
The Central Park men lost a goal after only 25 seconds and Brett is hoping that the ‘embarrassment’ they felt will help them recover.
He explained: “It was anembarrassing start to a game.
“The early goal brought us down and we were already short of confidence as it was.
“Afterwards we talked about ourselves and our formation but they were simply the better team. We know what is it stake on Saturday and we need to give it our all. They will not like our pitch – it is terrible – so that may work in our favour.”
