An emotional Shaun Byrne has admitted he looks set to leave Dunfermline as he seeks more regular football.
The 22-year-old former Celtic youth has featured in more than 100 games for the Pars since making his debut in 2012 but fears he may have played his last game for the club.
The midfielder has not yet been offered a new contract to stay at East End Park as manager Allan Johnston readies his squad for life in the Championship next term.
However, after starting just two matches since Christmas as the Fifers romped to the League One title, Byrne believes it may be time to seek a new challenge in his career anyway.
The Kirkcaldy-born player, who suffered the dark days of administration but celebrated the league win last weekend, said: “I have enjoyed it here and I love the club.
“I appreciate everything that the fans have done for me over the last four or five years in the first team, but it might be time to move on. I have been through the worst times that the club has had and obviously Saturday was one of the best days that I have had as well.
“If it is time to move on I just have to look for a new chapter.
“I want to play a lot more games than I have done lately, it has been disappointing over the last couple of months.
“It was emotional thinking it might be the last time that I was going to play for Dunfermline but I am delighted that we won the league and if I am going to go I will be going on a high.”
