Darren Fletcher believes Scotland have to learn to keep the ball better following Sunday’s defeat to Italy.
The Scots were forced to stand back and admire the Italians as they bossed the possession in the friendly matched played in Malta.
Gordon Strachan’s men one shot on goal in the 1-0 loss – a Matt Ritchie effort on 77 minutes – compared to the opposition’s 14.
They will stay on the island this week before travelling to France to play the Euro 2016 host nation in Metz on Saturday.
Fletcher obviously thinks keep-ball should be high on the agenda during the training camp.
The West Bromwich Albion midfielder said: “There’s no doubt that they (Italy) are a quality side, were the better team and deserved their victory.
“We stuck at it and worked hard but there are a lot of lessons to be learned.
“We didn’t keep the ball well enough at times and we’re disappointed about that.
“When you lose football games you learn from them and playing against a top-class side means there is plenty for us to learn.
“One thing about our lads is that the spirit, determination and dedication are there,” added the former Manchester United man.
“It’s just that we can improve a little bit on the ball, keep possession a bit better and engage the opposition higher up the pitch.
“We have to recover now because there a few tired legs and then we can look over this game, learn from it and then try to win in France.”
