Brechin boss Darren Dods has expressed his delight after bringing prolific goalscorer Alan Trouten back to the club.
The attacking midfielder left Brechin last summer to join Ayr after three successful seasons for the Angus side during which he made 95 appearances, netting 41 goals.
He was part of the successful Honest Men team that gained promotion to the Championship but despite having a year left on his contract with Ian McCall’s side, he left the club by mutual consent last week.
Dods, who was desperate to bolster his firepower following the departure of striker Robert Thomson to Dumbarton, wasted no time in making a move for “Trouts” who has put pen to paper on a one-year deal.
The Brechin fan favourite will now be back plying his trade at The Glebe next season.
Dods said: “I am delighted that we have managed to bring a player of Alan’s quality back to the club.
“I know first-hand how difficult he can be to play against and hopefully he can be as big a success at the club next season as he was the first time round.”
