Raith boss Gary Locke has revealed he is determined to have three full-time keepers at Stark’s Park this season.
The manager, who took charge of his first game since becoming Rovers boss for a friendly at Forfar last night, has already drafted in goalie Aaron Lennox on loan from Aberdeen.
The 23-year-old will provide competition for first-choice stopper Kevin Cuthbert but Locke is still on the hunt for another keeper following the departure of club legend David McGurn to Cowdenbeath.
The veteran goalie, who will be awarded a testimonial at his former stomping ground, left the Kirkcaldy club as he wanted to remain part-time, combining playing with working at a college.
Locke said: “I’d like to try to get a younger goalie in as well because I think it’s important when you’re full-time that you’ve got three keepers, because if one gets injured, you need two for training.
“David was brilliant and I was just disappointed he didn’t want to go full-time due to work commitments.
“For me, it’s a position where we really need three full-time goalkeepers.
“So, that wasn’t really a football decision, it was more to do with his work commitments.
“He’s a fantastic guy and I’m just disappointed I didn’t get the chance to work with him, because he’s been a great servant to the club.
“The good thing is he’s going to get a testimonial and he’ll get the send-off he deserves, because he’s been a great servant for the club.”
