Montrose have received a boost ahead of the start to competitive action in the Betfred League Cup against Ross County with no less than four signings in the shape of Paul Watson, Chris Hegarty, Ross Lennie and Gregor Anderson.
Watson, who captained the Gable Endies at the start of the last campaign, endured a horrendous time with a groin injury that saw him miss almost the entire season and required two separate operations.
Now, having worked his way back to full fitness, the 30-year-old is raring to go again saying: “I am delighted to be able to put my injury behind me and get back playing football again.
“The squad is shaping up nicely and I am really looking forward to the season ahead.”
Hegarty, son of Montrose boss Paul, previously spent over three years at the club from 2008-11, making 90 appearances and scoring six goals.
The experienced full-back began his career at Dundee as a youth before spells at Peterhead and Arbroath.
After leaving Montrose, he moved to Forfar Athletic and most recently spent time at Highland League outfit Buckie Thistle.
Hegarty senior has also signed two youngsters from the Junior ranks on six-month deals.
Lennie, who is a 20-year-old midfielder, joins from Bathgate Thistle, having previously been on the books at East Fife.
Defender Anderson, who is 21, joins from Tayport.
Montrose have also confirmed that Ross McCord and Jamie Clarke have left the club.
