The Euros, once again, showed our cousins south of the border are not as good as they think they are.
And their search for a manager who can turn their fortunes around demonstrates there’s also a dearth of top class English managers.
I’m not being disrespectful to front- runner Sam Allardyce, or others like Alan Pardew and Eddie Howe.
They are all fine managers.
But when it comes to the kind of name that would attract the attention of the biggest clubs or nations around if they needed a gaffer, there is no English-born manager in that league and hasn’t been since the days of Terry Venables and Bobby Robson.
That has to be a worry for those responsible for running the game down south.
