Bouncing straight back up after relegation last term will not be easy for Forfar, but boss Gary Bollan is delighted with the start the Loons have made to their League Two campaign.
“We scored four goals and created numerous other chances,” he said, reflecting on the thrilling 4-3 victory over Cowdenbeath.
“Their keeper made some fantastic saves, including a brilliant double stop right at the end. However, I think in terms of chances and possession, we deserved the win.
“We are scoring goals – that’s seven in two games, but at the same time we have got to stop conceding.”
Bollan agreed that the Loons have played some good football in their outings so far.
He said: “We have got good players in there who should have a bit of belief in themselves. When we get the ball down and pass it we do look a good side.”
The Loons thought they had taken the lead in the 15th minute when Jim Lister crashed a shot down off the crossbar but the ball did not cross the line.
Cowden took full advantage of that let-off a minute later when Craig Sives thumped a half-volley into the top corner when the ball fell to him 12 yards out.
Lister levelled in the 20th minute, glancing a Danny Denholm corner in from the corner of the six-yard box and three minutes later Denholm fired them ahead with a brilliant free-kick from 22 yards.
The Loons then made it three in the 51st minute with a neat finish from Josh Peters.
After Chris Turner hit the bar, Cowden pulled one back when on-loan striker Nickolay Todorov headed down and home.
Dean Brett waltzed through the Forfar defence but the woodwork denied him a goal as his shot crashed off the post.
The visitors looked to have rescued a point in the 79th minute when Lewis Moore fired in a 25-yard screamer, although Forfar were left furious as Jamie Bain appeared to be fouled in the build-up.
But with just three minutes left, club captain Gavin Swankie smashed home a knock back to claim all three points.
Blue Brazil boss Liam Fox admitted he was disappointed to come away with nothing.
“We showed a lot of resilience to come back from 3-1 down, but we just didn’t defend in the box or clear our lines,” he said.
