Dunfermline get a new dimension with Farid El Alagui signing

Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston believes Farid El Alagui will offer the Pars a much-needed aerial presence after signing the striker on a deal until January.
The experienced French-Moroccan has convinced Johnston that the injury problems that have hampered him in recent seasons are behind him.
At 6ft 1in tall, El Alagui’s stature is different to that of fellow forwards Gavin Reilly, Nicky Clark and Michael Moffat, and Johnston hopes that having the former Hibs, Falkirk and Dundee United marksman in the squad will allow the Pars to vary their approach to matches.
Johnston said: “He brings something different to the team with his presence.
“Sometimes you need to change the way you’re playing if they’re sitting deep, you maybe need a presence to win headers.
“He’s scored goals and he’s a handful if you’re putting balls into the box, which is the way we play.
He added: “I’ve been impressed with his attitude. Even in the mornings, coming in, he’s been doing his prehab so he doesn’t get injured again.
“You can tell he’s a really good professional and he’s got a lot of experience.”
