Brechin boss Darren Dods admits the last thing he wanted was an international break this weekend.
The Angus side are currently sitting proudly atop League 1 and cemented their position at the summit on Saturday courtesy of a 1-0 victory at Stranraer.
City have won three out of their last four league games and Dods insists that he would rather his players were facing third-placed Alloa this weekend instead of having to wait until October 15.
He said: “We look at each quarter and we have probably taken a lot more points than we expected to do in this first one.
“To be honest, you don’t get an accurate picture until around Christmas but we are hoping to stay up in the top four.
“We have had a tough run of games recently but we are pleased that we managed to take nine points out of the four matches.
“With the way things have been going, we would have liked to have played Alloa this weekend to keep the momentum going but we will just have to continue working hard in training during the break.”
