Brechin City manager Darren Dods insists his team will dust themselves down after a 1-0 defeat by Alloa Athletic, who leapfrogged them at the top of League One on goal difference.
“The result was disappointing and we’ve certainly played better, but it was just one of those days which we’ll put behind us,” he said.
“Alloa put us under pressure and delivered some good crosses into the box but I felt we dealt with them well.
“Even after we went a goal down we’d chances to get back into the game, with the best opportunity coming in the last minute when a great move ended with their goalkeeper bringing off a great save from Finn Graham.
“We’ll now dust ourselves down and prepare for the match against Stenhousemuir next Saturday.”
The visitors had the bulk of pressure in the opening half, but neither side created clear-cut chances.
City started the second-half well.
But as the half wore on the Wasps gained the ascendency and they made the breakthrough in the 68th minute. Iain Flannagan flighted a superb free-kick into the City box for defender Jason Marr, who slipped behind the home defence to glance a header past Graeme Smith.
The home side pushed hard and were unlucky in the closing stages when substitute Ross Caldwell had a shot blocked and, seconds later, Wasps keeper Neil Parry brought off a point-blank save to deny Graham.
