Off the pitch, the hairstyles and colours may change but Kyle Benedictus insists that on it his passion and desire remain the same.
The 24-year-old defender is currently sporting a dyed blond quiff and he also turned up for the first day of pre-season with his hair in braids.
The former Dundee centre-half admits it is all a bit of fun and while his manager Gary Locke may not agree with his style choices, he has shown his faith in the player by handing him the captain’s armband in Jason Thomson’s absence.
Benedictus will wear it with pride once again as Rovers look to capitalise on last week’s memorable win at Falkirk when they face Queen of the South this evening.
He said: “It is just another haircut. I like to be different same as Kev (McHattie).
“A couple of people are getting us mixed up so I might have to change my colour again!
“The manager hasn’t said much about it – he just looks and laughs.
“As long as I keep putting the performances in for the team, my hair doesn’t matter.
“I have always been the same. People say I am a joker and I like having a laugh with the boys but come Saturday, I am really serious when it comes to the game.
“I will never change my ways – I always try to have as much fun as I can but when it comes to game time, I am professional and I will always be that way.
“I enjoy being captain at the moment and it is great that the manager has that confidence in me to lead the boys out.
“There are a lot of leaders in the team like Davo (Iain Davidson) Cat (Kevin Cuthbert) and big Jean-Yves (M’voto).
“So I am delighted that the manager has shown faith in me.
“When he came in, I had my braids which probably wasn’t the best thing to do on his first day but he knows I am really serious when it comes to going on the park.
“Hopefully haircuts won’t make him change captain.”
Last week’s 4-2 victory came courtesy of goals from Iain Davidson and Declan McManus as well as a double from Mark Stewart.
And Benedictus admitted he was delighted for his former Dundee team-mate.
He said: “The boys did well last week. I don’t think a lot of teams will win there this year, let alone score four goals.
“I was also pleased for Marky coming in and getting his first start.
“I thought he was different class and the confidence is flowing through him now. He has been flying in training all week.
“Even when I was with him at Dundee he was in and out of the team but every time he played, he seemed to score and that was in the SPL.
“He can definitely score goals and knows where the net is. He has proved it over the last couple of seasons being Raith’s top scorer.
“He has been unlucky so far this season with a couple of injuries and he has hurt his wrist now but he should be OK.
“Declan McManus got a goal as well which was good for him as it has been a while.”
Having won at Falkirk, Benedictus and his team-mates are determined to follow that up with another victory over Queens.
He added: “The manager has been speaking to us about consistency. We had a few good results at the start of the season but it has been stop-start since then.
“We took positives from gaining a point against Hibs and then to go to a really difficult place like Falkirk, and play well in defence and attack, hopefully that will build momentum for the next couple of games.
“We now have Queen of the South and they had been flying until the last couple of results.
“I am sure their manager will have them going as they know that if we win, we will be above them.
“There is everything to play for just now, so we will go out on Saturday, try to enjoy it and pick up three points.”
