East Fife player/manager Gary Naysmith has dedicated a large part of this week’s training to giving out tactical instructions to his squad on how to deal with Airdrie at Bayview today.
Naysmith explained: “Airdrie play the ball out from the back very frequently and look to keep that going the further up the pitch they get. If you let them settle then they can make life very difficult as they will pass it around you.
“They are also dangerous from set-pieces as they work a lot of different moves and they also throw your thinking out a bit by leaving three men up the park when you have a corner.
“I have spent a lot of time with our squad going through how we are going to set up to get the better of them.”
As for his own side Naysmith added: “We were good at Stranraer last weekend particularly in the first half where the game plan in terms of taking the game to them worked well. In the second half a couple of injuries worked against us and things turned around but a point there is not the worst result and we can look forward to facing Airdrie.”
Kevin O’Hara is on Scotland under-19 duty, while Scott Robinson and Chris Duggan remain out injured. Ross Brown is expected to return, as is Tony Wallace.
