Forfar meet Edinburgh City on league business just a week after playing them in a Scottish Cup second round tie and just three days before they face each other again in a replay.
Last Saturday’s clash at Meadowbank ended goalless and Loons manager Gary Bollan is now hoping to outfox his opposite number Gary Jardine and get his team going in the league again at Station Park.
Bollan said: “We will be trying to find ways to outwit each other after neither side could grab a goal last weekend.
“We started well and had a lot of possession but unfortunately we could not turn that into a goal.
“They came into things a bit more and took confidence from having a good chance just before the break.
“They started the second half well however we ended very strongly and should have scored before the final whistle.
“We did not manage to do that and we know face the scenario of facing Edinburgh City four times by November 1 which is not ideal.”
The capital city side have yet to win a game this season and Bollan is determined that they are kept waiting another week for that initial success as he looks for his side to bounce back from league defeats at the hands of local rivals Montrose and Arbroath.
Bollan said: “They have improved since they came into the league.
“They are well-drilled and well-organised however we need to show what we are all about and win the game.
“We have to make home advantage count and the aim is start well again but this time turn possession into chances and chances into goals.”
New loan recruit from St Johnstone, midfielder Eoghan McCawl, has been added, with Bollan hoping that Lewis Milne, Thomas O’Brien and Michael Kennedy could return after injury, however Jamie Bain is suspended.
The Station Park boss said: “It would be good to have these guys available as they were a big part of the team that did so well at the start of the season.”
There is also a possibility of the Loons fielding a former Premiership defender as a trialist.
